Why the student pathway gets particular attention
Having gone through the study-permit-to-permanent-residence route personally, Sukhveer focuses on the decisions students make early — often before they have spoken to anyone qualified — that quietly determine whether the rest of the pathway stays open.
The most consequential of those is program selection. Not every program at every institution leads to a Post-Graduation Work Permit, and the PGWP is normally available only once. Choosing a program that does not qualify can close off the Canadian work experience that most permanent residence pathways are built on, and by the time that becomes apparent the tuition has already been paid.
The other recurring issue is the study plan and proof of funds. Officers are assessing whether the program makes sense for the applicant and whether the money behind it is genuinely available and clearly explained. Both are fixable before submission and expensive to fix afterwards.

That distinction matters, and it is drawn deliberately. In Canada only a licensed RCIC, a lawyer, or a Quebec notary may charge a fee for immigration advice. Any firm that blurs the line between licensed and unlicensed staff is one worth asking harder questions of.
