Frequently asked questions

What kinds of immigration problems does Waymark handle beyond regular applications?

We work on the files that have gone wrong or become complicated. That includes procedural fairness letter responses, reconsideration requests after a refusal, additional document requests, notarization and commissioning of documents, and appeals before the Immigration and Refugee Board. If you are unsure which route applies to your situation, contact us before any deadline passes.

What does RCIC-IRB authorized actually mean?

It means the consultant holds the additional accreditation required to represent clients in hearings before the Immigration and Refugee Board, not only in paper applications to IRCC. Waymark is a licensed RCIC firm in Abbotsford, British Columbia, licence R1034253, with that IRB authority. You can see who will handle your file on our team page, and you can verify any consultant's licence on the CICC public register.

My application was refused. Should I appeal, ask for reconsideration, or apply again?

It depends on the decision, because not every refusal carries a right of appeal. Sponsorship and residency obligation decisions often go to the Immigration Appeal Division, while most temporary resident refusals do not, leaving reconsideration, judicial review, or a stronger fresh application. The right choice usually turns on the officer's notes. Book a review through our contact page before any filing deadline runs out.

Can you notarize or commission the documents IRCC is asking for?

Yes, we assist with notarization and commissioning of the affidavits, statutory declarations, invitation letters, and consent forms that immigration applications commonly require. The important step is confirming what IRCC actually wants, since a certified true copy, a commissioned affidavit, and a notarized document are different things and the wrong one can delay your file. Tell us which document is involved through our contact page.

Do I need to live in Abbotsford to work with you?

No. Our office is in Abbotsford, British Columbia, but immigration is federally regulated, so a licensed RCIC can act for clients anywhere in Canada and overseas. Most files are handled by video call, secure email, and electronic document sharing, with in-person meetings available locally in the Fraser Valley. Start with an introduction through our contact page and we will suggest the right format.
