Additional Document Request (ADR) Response
If IRCC requests additional documents during your application, a thorough and timely response can be the difference between approval and refusal. Most ADRs have a 30-day deadline.
Common ADR Triggers
Officers often request additional documents when:
- β Original documents are unclear or partially illegible
- β Translations are missing or non-certified
- β Travel history doesn't match passport stamps or visa records
- β Employment evidence is generic or unsigned
- β Police certificates are missing for required countries
- β Medical exam results need clarification
Our Process
We review the ADR request line-by-line, identify exactly what evidence is needed, gather and organize supporting documents, and submit a complete response well within the deadline. Late or incomplete responses risk refusal.

Frequently asked questions
What is an additional document request from IRCC?
An additional document request, or ADR, is a message from an officer asking for specific evidence before your application can be decided. It is not a refusal and it is not a procedural fairness letter, which raises a concern about credibility or admissibility. An ADR simply means something is missing, unclear, or out of date. The letter sets a deadline, and that deadline is enforced.
What happens if I miss the deadline in an additional document request?
The officer can decide your application on the file as it stands, which usually means a refusal for insufficient documentation. There is no automatic extension, so if a police certificate or medical result will not arrive in time, write to IRCC before the deadline explaining what has been requested and when you expect it. Contact us immediately if your date is close.
Why is IRCC asking for more documents when I already submitted everything?
Requests are usually triggered by something the officer cannot verify rather than by carelessness on your part. Common causes include expired police certificates or medicals, bank statements that do not show the source of funds, employment records that conflict with your forms, missing translations, and updated biometrics. Treating the request as a chance to close the gap completely, rather than sending the bare minimum, produces better outcomes.
Can I send extra documents that were not specifically requested?
Yes, and it is often wise, provided the extra material answers the officer's underlying concern and does not bury it. Send exactly what was asked for first, clearly labelled, then add supporting evidence with a short cover letter explaining how each item responds. Disorganized bundles of unexplained files can create new doubts. We prepare and index these responses through our ADR response service.
How am I supposed to submit the documents IRCC requested?
Follow the method named in the letter itself, because it varies by application type and portal. Some requests provide an upload field in your online account, others direct you to the IRCC web form, and paper files may require mail or courier to a named office. Keep proof of submission and a complete copy of everything sent. If the instruction is unclear, ask us rather than guessing.
